Town Brewing Company

Renovation, Restaurant/Retail

The Vision

The “Freemore West” neighborhood is located just outside of  Uptown Charlotte and has experienced incredible growth. Doerre Construction was proud to contribute to this growth, and be part of the team that could “Create a Grand Openingfor Town Brewing Company, an exciting new brewery and restaurant located at 800 Grandin Road.  The Brewery is housed in a roughly 11,000-square-foot space that has played home to an auto garage and industrial equipment supplier.  The vision was to make the brewery’s intimate 24-tap taproom feel less like a warehouse and more like a living room.

The Project

The project was a total renovation of the existing 10,600 square-foot building formerly occupied by an industrial equipment supplier called Lubromation Inc.  Phase one of the project was converting the former garage into a lease-able shell build for the property owner.  The front and back walls of the building had to be completely rebuilt in place to make the building structurally sound.  After shell and structural work was completed, we began the process of creating a comfortable space for the tenant, Town Brewing, with exposed barrel ceilings and dark blue paint, offset by concrete floors and light-colored brick.  Different seating nooks are carved into the roughly 3,500-square-foot kitchen and taproom. Butcher-block style tables, wood pews and leather chairs and sofas are tucked into that space.   A 32-foot-plus bar serves as the focal point with Town’s logo front and center between the draft tower. Outside, the extensive patio has a fire pit and bocce court.

The Grand Opening

The building now contains Town Brewing Company, where head brewer Brian Quinn operates a 15-barrel, three-vessel system with a variety of fermenting options.  The kitchen serves up unique gastro-pub style food and Town Brewing is an integral part of the Freemore West community.
