Binaco Tower

Restaurant/Retail

The Vision

Binaco International Real Estate, a family owned real estate development firm, has been shaping the landscape in Uptown Charlotte for decades.  They approached the Doerre team to help them with their vision to construct a mid-rise building on their property at 123 E Fifth Street.  The goal was to create a building that would have multiple levels of bar and restaurant concepts, making Charlotte a more metropolitan city and Fifth Street the official entertainment district of Uptown.

The Project

The project is on an extremely tight site in Uptown Charlotte which presented several challenges. The Doerre team worked closely with the architect and owner through the design phase to provide input on potential constructability issues and to identify value engineering opportunities.  The Doerre team constructed Binaco Tower which is about 15,000 square feet with four floors and a 5th floor rooftop terrace.  Each floor has a balcony area overlooking bustling 5th Street.  As part of the project, we widened the sidewalk to around 11 feet wide all the way to the intersection of Tryon Street. This allows the neighboring bars and restaurants, as well as Binaco Tower, to use sidewalk space for additional seating.

The Grand Opening

The entire project team celebrated the ribbon cutting for the shell building in Fall of 2020.  Binaco Tower now serves as a catalyst to create an entertainment district on Fifth Street —  an already a hotpot when it comes to bars and restaurants.  The building currently houses 3 bar and restaurant concepts with more on the way.
