The Vision

Sherwin-Williams sought to develop a new ground-up facility in Gastonia that would serve both retail customers and professional contractors with an efficient, modern layout designed for long-term operational success.

As a repeat client, the goal was clear: deliver a high-quality building that aligns with brand standards, supports bulk tinting and warehouse operations, and provides a clean, welcoming retail experience — all while maintaining predictable schedule and cost control.

The Project

THE PROJECT

The new 10,230-square-foot facility includes:

  • Retail Sales Floor (Mercantile Occupancy) – 3,242 SF
  • Bulk Tinting & Stock Area (H-2 Occupancy) – 6,610 SF
  • Office and administrative spaces
  • Service alcove and support areas
  • Fully coordinated life safety and fire protection systems
  • New parking, sidewalks, and site lighting
  • Dumpster enclosure and exterior service components

As a complete ground-up build, Doerre managed:

  • Site preparation and slab-on-grade construction
  • Structural framing and envelope systems
  • Exterior façade and storefront glazing
  • Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing coordination
  • Interior partitions and finishes
  • Code compliance and inspections

The project required careful coordination between mercantile retail space and hazardous material stock/storage areas, ensuring compliance while maintaining efficient workflow for daily operations.

Consistent communication with the ownership team and design partners allowed the project to move smoothly from issued-for-construction drawings through final completion.

The Grand Opening

The completed facility delivers:

  • Efficient back-of-house bulk tinting and inventory management
